Jovit rises after 'PGT' audition

MANILA, Philippines - Jovit Baldivino, a 16-year-old student from Batangas shared how his life changed after he auditioned for the country's biggest talent search "Pilipinas Got Talent."

Viewers and judges of the show -- Kris Aquino, Ai Ai delas Alas, Freddie Garcia – have been blown away by Baldivino’s “unbelievable” voice as he performed his own version of Journey’s “Faithfully” during the audition aired on ABS-CBN last Saturday, February 27.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Baldivino, who started singing at the young age of four, shared changes in his life after his well-praised performance.

"Pinagkakaguluhan po nila ako (sa Batangas). Mayroon na pong nagpa-picture at nagpapa-autograph," Baldivino said.

He added: "Parang mas umangat pa po ako at mas lalo pa po nila akong nakilala."

Aside from being popular in his hometown, Baldivino is also a rising star on the internet as his audition video has been uploaded on YouTube. As of posting, it has been viewed more than 900,000 times.

Baldivino also said that he has gained more confidence now that he is receiving praises and support from a lot of people.

"Mas lumakas po ngayon (ang confidence) kaysa po noong dati," he said.

More opportunities

Baldvino, a vocalist of an all-male band "Valedeta," said his exposure in "PGT" helped him and his band mates get more gigs.

"Opo, ang dami po ng offer ngayon, madami na po," he said.

Baldvino, who went to Manila for media interviews was accompanied by his parents. The singer said that he is really happy that his talent has been recognized.

"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta...talaga pong sobrang happy po at hindi ko po akalain," he said.

Baldivino said his musical influences are the bands Scorpion, Queen, and Journey.

Baldivino, who likes the band "Journey," said it was his dream to perform with the group's lead vocalist -- Pineda.

"Sana po ay gusto ko po siyang maka-duet. Gusto ko po siyang makasama," he said.

Baldivino is currently preparing for PGT's next round of audition. For his next performance, he will sing Queen's hit "Bohemian Rhapsody."

He is also taking voice lessons in Batangas to correct his pronunciation.

“Pilipinas Got Talent” was the number one program on weekends hitting its highest rating last Sunday (Feb 28) with a whopping 43.1 percentage points, a 32.3-percentage point lead over its competitor, which only hit 10.8 percent.

More talent

Meanwhile, the hit reality show “Pilipinas Got More Talent” airs every Mondays to Fridays at 4:30 PM on ABS-CBN.

He then ventured into acting and appeared on ABS-CBN shows such as “Ligaw na Bulaklak” opposite Roxanne Guinoo; “Your Song Presents: Babalik Kang Muli”; and, Queen of Pinoy Opera Judy Ann Santos’s comeback primetime drama “Habang May Buhay.”

Marc also served as a judge in ABS-CBN’s morning talent-variety show “Showtime.”
